    We all possess these qualities (OK - to varying degrees !!!) and every so often WE SHINE. Think about those sparkling moments; that instant when it all comes together and you finally connect with that kid, when something happens in the classroom that looks suspiciously like engaged learning, when students take off in unexpected and totally satisfying ways and you think fondly back to the reasons you went teaching in the first place. Those special instants when you wish someone else HAD been watching so you could share the moment.
    Well, here's your chance. Our profession is all about making a difference and we'd all like to hear about YOUR moments. So, do the necessary tweaking to protect peoples dignity and anonymity ( disguise the names etc) and add your stories to our RATS wiki. Only members can edit, but all can drop in to read...and yes, YOU can write your story anonymously ;-)
    Don't be shy - who knows, your story might inspire someone else, and that in itself is worth it !

    How to Contribute
    To get started, you've got to be a member. Click on the join button (top right hand corner and follow the directions). An email will be automatically sent to the administrator (Donna) who will either ....begin an indepth investigation of your personal life & details or ...smile gratefully, tick your name off our educators list and get back to work. You will be sent a return email - just click on the link (to acknowledge your email address is correct) and duh dah ... you're a contributing member. Lucky, eh ? (We have a secret handshake too ...).Once a member you can edit any page, tweak things around, add your own stuff - anything you think the highly professional members of this space might be keen on. Podcasts are an especially good idea.

    At the back of the class there is an art space with a lot of white board. I was having the class come up with questions for our topic - "Living and Working in Space". Things were a little dry. "Right" I said. "See that white board at the back of the classroom?" They nodded in assent. "Well", I continued, "that is your space, your graffiti space. When you have a question you are to take your white board marker, climb onto the bench (I threw PC out the window for this one and just told them to be very careful), and write it on the board". Well, suddenly they had all these curious and sometimes weird questions. Questions were no problem and the work began. The first 10 minutes of each Inquiry class were spent on sharing any information found by anyone that could answer any of the questions on the graffiti board. Each student wrote the question and then the answer as given by the student in their topic book. I made sure I had imput on whether the answer was an accurate answer (to the best of my knowledge and as common sense dictated). Great!! Marcel

    This is a 'skite' site. A place for us to acknowledge effort and excellence and comment when we happen to notice our colleagues doing something special to promote effective teaching and learning.
    Well Done Pekerau
    Wasn't it fantastic to see the wonderful job that the teachers are doing with the wonderful learners at Pekerau! It was great to see all the learning that is going on and the amount of hard work that the teachers are putting into providing learning experiences for children that are providing them so much. Keep it up guys!

    Post term 1 stress
    One of the things that we need to do is to acknowledge the good things that all of us teachers do every day. It is all too easy to point out the omissions or mistakes that we make among the multitude of decisions taken on a daily basis. This means that we have to "hunt the value" in our colleagues work, not wait for someone to come to us! For instance Sarah and Claire discovered that I had been given the after-school games hockey games to organise and said, "Oh we'll do that!" and took the job off me. Great stuff you two. Do it again.
